Searching and filtering
On this page
Search finds time series by words and phrases in their titles and descriptions (in Lithuanian and English), and also by dataset, source and region names, units and codes. You can narrow the results with filters by region, source, frequency and category; filters can be combined.
There are two ways to search:
- type a word in the search box in the top bar and press Enter;
- choose Search in the left-hand menu.
Search syntax

Further rules:
- Accents do not matter:
zemes ukisalso finds “žemės ūkis”; upper and lower case are the same. - Single words always also match by their beginning or a different ending (e.g.
pricesalso finds “price”), even when the same query contains quotes,ORor a minus. A phrase in quotes is matched in exactly that word order. - If a plain word query (no quotes,
ORor minus) finds nothing, MacroLens automatically corrects a likely misspelling or shows similar results. A notice above the results tells you when this happens. Queries with quotes,ORor a minus are never relaxed, so series you excluded never appear. - The series of all sources have both Lithuanian and English titles (the Lithuanian titles of the international sources are MacroLens translations), so you can search international and national data in either language — e.g.

Filters
Filters are shown next to the results. Each value shows how many series it covers for the current search.

Distinguish a country group from an aggregate region: the group “EU member states” shows the series of the 27 individual countries, whereas the region “European Union (27 countries)” is one aggregated series for the EU as a whole.
Several values in the same filter are combined with “or” (e.g. Lithuania or Latvia), different filters with “and” (e.g. Lithuania and quarterly and Eurostat). Filters also work without a search word — e.g. all quarterly national-accounts series for Lithuania.
Results and sorting
Each result shows the title in the interface language (with the title in the other language under it), the source, frequency, unit, region, period (from–to) and the date of the last update. You can sort the results:
- By relevance (default; series for Lithuania are ranked higher),
- Recently updated (most recently changed data first),
- By title,
- By latest data (series with the newest observations first).
Series that the source no longer updates are hidden by default; tick Include discontinued series to include them.
Click a result to open the series page, from which you can add the series to an analysis, download or print it.
Tips
- Start with a few words and filters rather than a long phrase — filters are more precise.
- For Lithuanian data choose the region Lithuania and the source State Data Agency or Bank of Lithuania — the national sources, which publish their titles and descriptions in Lithuanian themselves.
- The same indicator is often published by several sources (e.g. GDP by the State Data Agency, Eurostat, the OECD and the IMF). The source filter helps you pick the one whose methodology suits you.
