Reports and presentations

From your saved charts and tables you can build a report (a document) or a presentation (slides). Charts and tables in reports and presentations are linked to the analyses, so they update automatically when the data is updated.

Reports

1. Choose Reports in the left-hand menu and create a new report.
2. Add blocks:
   • a heading and text (text can be bold, italic and contain lists);
   • a chart, a table or statistical results from a saved analysis;
   • a page break.
3. Blocks can have captions (e.g. “Figure 1. GDP growth”) and a width — full page width or half (two charts side by side).
4. Change the order of blocks by moving them up or down.

Export: DOCX (Microsoft Word — you can keep editing), XLSX (Microsoft Excel — a contents sheet and, for every chart, table and statistical result, its data, tables and editable Excel charts), PDF, or print directly from the browser.

Presentations

1. Choose Presentations in the left-hand menu and create a new presentation.
2. Add slides and choose their layout: title slide, title and content, two content blocks side by side, content only.
3. Put charts, tables, statistical results or text on the slides and add speaker notes. A statistical result is shown on a slide with its main chart and main table; all its charts and tables are in the XLSX download.
4. Choose a theme and the aspect ratio (16:9 or 4:3).

Present mode: you can show the presentation full-screen directly from MacroLens. Change slides with the arrow keys (→ / ←), Page Down / Page Up or the space bar; Esc leaves present mode.

Export: PPTX (Microsoft PowerPoint — charts are stored as editable PowerPoint charts with their data), XLSX (Microsoft Excel — the data, tables and charts of every slide) or PDF.

Tips

• Before exporting, check chart titles and source notes — they are carried over into the document.
• An exported file is a snapshot: it contains the data as of the time of export. Inside MacroLens a report or presentation always shows the latest data.
• Reports and presentations can be shared with colleagues like any other library item.
